Jan Parra is an experienced guitar teacher in La Mesa with over four decades perfecting the art of guitar instruction. After teaching in Miami and across the country, he founded PlayPro Guitar School in La Mesa to bring his unique, student-centered approach to San Diego County. Unlike traditional music schools that follow rigid textbooks, Jan designs every lesson specifically around YOUR goals, interests, and learning pace.

Jan Parra is a dedicated teacher and lifelong student of music with over 35 years of teaching experience.

He began his formal studies at the Conservatory of Music at age 13, later earned his degree in Music Theory in his native Venezuela, and became a Certified Instructor through Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Many of Jan’s students have gone on to record albums, tour internationally, become professional sound engineers and guitarists, and achieve their personal musical goals.

Jan has collaborated closely with renowned Latin music producers, most notably Trino Jiménez, who arranged two of Jan’s most cherished compositions: the nostalgic and beautiful masterpieces “Delirium” and “Ayer.” His music continues to be performed by orchestras and in theaters around the world. As an instrumentalist, Jan is highly accomplished on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical guitar, ukulele, and bass.
